Selmer Paris made some very nice trumpet models. Altough the finish shows some wear, the horn is in very good condition. It is a K-Modified 24B Bb-trumpet, with a lacquered finish.

Overblow this sucker and it rattles like a snare drum. Most notably it has the sizzle that HJ was known for. This horn plays like a dream with a beautiful sound and incredible response and slotting. The bell has that famous french double bead rim for better response and projection. The valves have great action and compression. More a letter'B' The Olds Recording trumpet was a copy of this design.

On Jan-18-13 at 06:51:36 PST. I'm pretty sure he bought it at Chuck Levin's in the early 60's. This was my father-in-law's horn which he played through college and in the Air Force. It also has a fair amount of sweat damage on the bottom of the valves and the third valve slide. It doesn't affect the sound but it sucks that it happened.

For those that do not know why this valve block is set forward in this horn.it is because Harry was so tall and had long arms. This is a 24A Selmer Harry James Balanced Model. I have a rotary valve Calicchio project in the works, but it is unassembled, so it will have to wait until later. I am having a surgery soon, and will be out of commish for awhile, so I had better part with a few things. Because I had not intended to sell it.

Morever, as opposed to further again) it was missing a pinky hook. More the country I could find were slightly smaller than the one original one I have. Further, it was missing two finger buttons, and the only two in. So they are not numbered in sequence like the valves. One of the bottom caps were missing and we only had a brass one around the shop to replace it with. So this horn was found rough, and missing parts.

So it had to be heated and taken apart to be undone. As in it spent too much time at Stuckeys' or listened to Stuck in the Middle with you too many times.you get the picture. The tuning slide was also stuck bad. So the tuning slide area is a bit more shiny than the rest.

But it was repaired pretty well. So it has had a bell wrinkle and I can't hide that without getting it down to raw brass. Now I had thought that I would strip and polish this horn someday, but I figured I would let the'Patina crowd' have a go at it first, before I strip it and polish it. But the downside is that it lost some lacquer in the process.
